Ronald Benjamin Harris, 75

Thursday, September 3, 2020

Our amazing Husband, Father, and Papa passed away on August 5, 2020, at home surrounded by his family. Ron boarded the afternoon train with his Best Friend Bucky Hatcher. They were born on the same day and died within a year of each other.

Ronald Benjamin Harris was born to Richard and Agnes M. Sidney Harris on February 9, 1945, in Anaconda, MT.

Ron spent his childhood growing up in Anaconda enjoying the outdoors, fishing on the Big Hole and Georgetown Lake, hunting, and playing softball with his childhood friends, Bob Smith, Bucky Hatcher, and Rick and Bud Monroe.

Ron attended and graduated from MSU and UM. He received his BS in Special Ed. He got his master’s in education. Ron was a teacher, vice principal and principal. His dedication to his students was admirable; they knew they could go to him for anything. Whether student, staff, or friend, if Ron was your friend, you were incredibly lucky.

Ron was employed by the Colstrip School District, Warm Springs State Hospital, Anaconda Job Corp and the Anaconda School District. Ron and his family moved to Colstrip, MT, in 1982 after the closure of the Anaconda Smelter.

Ron and Mary Pat Daly were married on September 18, 1971. They were blessed with two girls, Sidney Jean and Breanne Alice.

Ron and Mary Pat moved back to Butte, MT, after Ron retired. They moved to Boise, ID, in 2016 to be closer to their children and grandkids.

Ron is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Mary Pat; and his children, Sidney (Joe Garza) and Breanne (Damian) Senden. Ron will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Colton and Emma Senden and Olivia and Aiden Garza, by his brothers Richard Harris, Robert (Grace) Harris, Rod (Shawn) Harris and sister Norma Harris.

Ron is also survived by sisters in law Kathy Daly, Peggy (Denny) Mouw, and Sheila (Bill) Kettering. Ron will also be forever remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends in Illinois, Montana, Colorado, and Texas.

A Celebration of Life will be held later. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude’s Hospital or Shriner’s Hospital or your favorite charity.

Harris, until we meet again! Love you, Daly
