After graduating she worked at the high school as a secretary for a year and then moved to Watertown, SD. It was here that she met her husband Robert Lee Goodman.

Nola had a huge love of animals, especially horses.

She loved breeding, training and riding them. Her and her husband, Lee, shared a passion for Appaloosa horses in particular. Nola was very creative. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, cross-stitch, and pencil drawings. She was a very gifted artist. Her other great love was for being outdoors. She could often be found in the barn, or out for walks. Nola was an avid reader, passing that love on to her two daughters.
